Castalia is expanding into the FAST channel market, leveraging its extensive experience in creating, distributing, and monetizing pay TV channels and digital platforms.
Pablo Corona, Castalia’s FAST Channels Consultant, states, “Entering this project is both challenging and exciting. We look forward to contributing our content and collaborating with top-tier producers to develop our FAST Channels initiative.»
In collaboration with the Mexicanal team, led by Demián Torres-Bohl, Castalia has already launched the Al Ritmo del Jaripeo FAST channel. Additionally, under Castalia, they are developing ZDF Crimen in partnership with ZDF Studios. “For both projects, we developed a comprehensive business strategy, overseeing the selection of the technical platform, programming, distribution, and monetization,” explained Corona.
CHALLENGES IN THE CURRENT MARKET
Corona notes that the streaming industry has witnessed firsthand the significant risks faced by even the largest players, including those with their studios. “However, this situation also presents opportunities for the creation of new businesses, particularly in the realm of FAST channels and digital platforms in general. In today’s market, it’s not just about size; agility and efficiency are key to success. While the landscape is complex, there are ample opportunities to form strategic alliances and carve out a unique niche within the crowded FAST channel market.”
He mentioned that a specific challenge lies in selecting a partner with the technical expertise and experience in digital advertising sales to provide technical services. This partner must also possess a deep understanding of the market’s nuances and be well-versed in leveraging local and international distribution platforms.
“Data is often requested but can be challenging to acquire and utilize effectively. We are well-versed in CPMs and fill rates, understanding their specifics by market and even the insights shared by distribution platforms. Ultimately, success in this industry requires strategic participation and collaboration with the right partners, considering the type of content being offered,» he pointed out.
Corona believes that rapid adaptation is crucial for success in the FAST channel market. By effectively leveraging data, adjusting content and programming, and refining sales strategies, businesses can mitigate risks and achieve long-term growth. He notes, “The decision to offer bundled services, individual channels, or a hybrid model is a strategic one. We are all invested in the continued development and expansion of this trend, which has become an integral part of content consumption worldwide.»
